Alyssa Myers
Alyssa Myers graduated from the University of Southern California with her BFA in Dance. She was elected by her peers for two sequential years as a member of the USC Kaufman Student Advisory Board and was on the USC Kaufman Inclusivity and Diversity Board in 2018. The year following, she became the Event Manager for SC Choreographic Collective and helped produce multiple fundraiser events in connection with Dancer’s Responding to Aids. Most recently, Alyssa has been a partner with Jodie Gate’s NYU Residency Fellowship aiming to, “embrace the border vision of cultural inclusivity and identity in classical ballet”. Upon graduating, Alyssa was awarded USC’s Order of Troy for exceptional academics, leadership, and community.
Influenced by Dana Casperson’s research on conflict resolution through movement, she has begun investigating how dance can infiltrate the ways individuals heal from trauma. By building and facilitating movement workshops and conversations she aspires to morph the way leaders are able to embrace circular, organic, and collaborative models to soften systems and encourage a shift in how organizations can exist.
As a dancer, Alyssa has performed the works of some of the world’s most renowned choreographers such as Crystal Pite, William Forsythe, and Azsure Barton. She has also created several pieces for dance companies across the United States. She is now based in New York and is actively dancing with project-based company, Terre Dance Collective. She continues to investigate the social impact that dance initiates by researching hybridity in different dance forms and their relationship to musicality and artistic expression.
